This Contracts and Sales: Contemporary Cases and Problems reflects a greater emphasis on modern Contract Law. While retaining some of the classic contracts cases, this edition offers many recent ones so that students can learn contract concepts as presented in contemporary language and in contemporary settings.

The materials reflect the diverse backgrounds and perspectives of the three authors. Professor McGovern is a legal historian who has written extensively in the Estate and Trusts and Property areas. Professors Lawrence and Hull are noted Commercial Law scholars. The result of this collaboration is a well-rounded book that exposes students to the many different elements involved in the analysis of Contract Law. Nevertheless, this casebook is shorter than other Contracts casebooks, in part due to careful editing of the cases that allows teachers and students to focus on the substance more easily.

The significance of Article 2 on Contracts Law is emphasized throughout. In addition to the revised UCC materials in the new edition, proposed UCC amendments are provided in the supplement. The Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods is also discussed to broaden students' perspectives on the law governing commercial transactions.
