When it debuted in 2003, Gaming Law: Cases and Materials (LexisNexis) was the country’s first casebook to address the subject of gambling law. Now, Carolina Academic Press is pleased to announce the publication of Gaming Law and Gambling Law: Cases, Materials, and Problems—Second Edition

Like its predecessor, this new edition is comprised of nine chapters that collectively describe the country’s five principal forms of gaming: lotteries; bingo; pari-mutuels; sports betting; and casinos (commercial, shipboard, Indian, and internet). The introductory chapter provides a cross-cutting overview of the subject as well as numerous tips for breaking into the gaming law field.

Although it follows in its predecessor’s footsteps, Gaming Law and Gambling Law has been completely revised to reflect the field’s numerous changes, including: the appearance of racinos; the legalization of sports betting; the onshore movement of riverboat casinos; the expansion of Indian casinos; and the evolution of online gaming. New topics include: the #MeToo Movement; eSports wagering; and the transformation of Macau into the world’s leading gaming jurisdiction. Signaling the times, Gaming Law and Gambling Law also discusses the impact of COVID-19 on the gaming industry.

One of the fun features of Gaming Law was its use of popular culture references. These have been retained and expanded to make the readings even more relatable than before.
