Need to return your purchase for a refund?

We want to make returns as easy as possible! Most items can be returned within 30 days of receipt in their original condition. Start Your Return Use our interactive returns process with your order # and ship-to ZIP code to generate a prepaid USPS label (printer required). A flat $7.00 return shipping fee will be deducted from your refund, or the actual shipping cost if your return exceeds 9 lbs. Rentals returned at the end of the rental period are exempt from this fee. 2. Prepare Your Package Pack your items securely, include a copy of your packing slip or order confirmation, and affix your shipping label — making sure no other tracking labels are visible. 3. Ship It Hand off your package to your USPS carrier, drop it at your nearest post office, or schedule a free at-home pickup. What Happens Next? Refunds are processed within 3 - 5 days of delivery and applied to your original payment method. Credit card refunds may take an additional 5 business days to post. Need to return your rental after your rental period is over?

To return your rental, use our interactive returns process and enter your Order # (with 4 leading zeros, e.g., 000012345) and shipping ZIP code. Select "RENTAL" as your return reason to generate your free return label. Pack your books securely, drop off at USPS, and make sure your package gets scanned — you remain responsible for the rental until it is. Please note: Free return labels apply only to rentals returned at the end of the rental period. Returns made within 30 days for a refund are subject to a return label fee.

What happens if my package is returned as "Undeliverable" or "Refused"?

If your package is returned to us as "Undeliverable" or "Refused," we will process a refund back to your original form of payment. minus the original shipping charges if applicable and any return shipping costs incurred. To avoid delivery issues, please double-check that your shipping address is complete and correct when placing your order. If you believe your package was returned in error, please contact us at custserv@barristerbooks.com and we'll be happy to help resolve the situation.

Who is responsible for paying shipping on returned items?

The cost of return shipping depends on how you choose to ship your return: Using our prepaid USPS label: A flat fee of $7.00 per package will be deducted from your refund. If your return exceeds 9 lbs., the actual shipping cost will be deducted instead. Using your own shipping method: If you choose not to use our prepaid label, return shipping is entirely at your expense. Either way, original shipping charges are non-refundable. Note that rentals returned at the end of the rental period are exempt from the return label fee.

What happens if I return an item after the 30-day return period?

We understand that life gets busy, so we try to be as flexible as possible with our return window. Returning a few days late? No worries — no penalty will be applied. However, returns significantly beyond the return period will be subject to a 50% restocking fee. Please note that if an item was originally sold as new and is returned in used or damaged condition, we may be unable to process a refund. We ask that all items be returned in their original condition so we can continue offering great prices to all of our customers. What items cannot be returned for a refund?

Please note that some items have a sticker on the front or back cover indicating that once the shrinkwrap is removed, the item cannot be returned. We recommend checking for this sticker before opening your purchase.

Can I exchange one item for another?

While we're unable to process direct exchanges due to the limitations of our inventory and accounting system, we'd love to help you get what you need! Simply return your original item for a refund and place a new order for the correct item.

I received the incorrect items and/or incorrect quantities of items. What can I do?

How long does it take for BarristerBooks.com to process my return?

We typically process refunds within 3 business days of receiving your return. During our busier periods — particularly in January and August — processing may take a little longer than usual. We appreciate your patience and will get your refund to you as quickly as possible!
